As adults, we are good at planning for special events and vacations; where we will go, how we will get there, what we will take with us and what we will do when we arrive. Almost no one takes the time to plan for one of most important events of the rest of our lives.
We don’t plan on experiencing a house fire or an automobile accident, but we do have insurance in case those events occur. We need a plan that is legally enforceable and effective. Rest of Life Care Planning is the process of getting your unique plan in place in a way that honors your personal values and preferences. Without a “plan” in place only two things can happen; either a stranger will make decisions for you if you are unable to communicate, or because no authority is in place, nothing can be done. Ugh!
